And we start with a great revelation that has been shaking Hollywood for more than a week now... But let's take it from the beginning.
Have you recognized this handsome man, who was on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan in 2010?
Yes, we can't believe it either. But it really is Lady Gaga, or we'd rather say Jo Calderone, her male alter-ego. After getting famous with Poker Face, having exploded the charts with Bad Romance, shocked with Judas, or even scored again with Born This Way, the pop star has decided to go even farther. That's why last week-end, during the VMAs, she appeared dressed... Like a man.
In spite of some doubts, most of the population hadn't seen it coming. We have to say that we hadn't suspected anything either. And yet, before the official confirmation of the man's identity given in a video interview on the 23rd of August of 2011, Jo Calderone had already appeared in several interviews and magazines... And is even present during half of the music video of Yoü and I, the pop artist's last single, online since the 16th of August !
Like always, Lady Gaga makes us question the matters of gender and identity. Who would have suspected the actual queen of pop to hide under those male features? Lady Gaga, already known for her lyrics defending equality and acceptation and for her permanent support to the LGBT community, pushes the limits again and forces us to think about subjects often considered as taboo. What is a man, or a woman? Is it a physical appearance, a way of thinking, or is it a mix of all these factors? Who are we, really?
How the star succeeded to keep it a secret until now, nobody knows. In the present world where the paparazzis chase the stars in every places, and where all of the artists' lives are exposed in magazines, we wonder how Jo Calderone could stay "anonymous" for such a long time...
But that's one of the main characteristics of Lady Gaga: to make us question everything, all over again, and show us that nothing's impossible.
