The Website Of The Week : We Feel Fine

We Feel Fine is a website created by Jonathan Harris and Sep Kamvar in August 2005.

The website is presented as an "exploration of human emotion on a global scale".

Every minute, the system searches the last blog articles posted in the world, presenting sentences such as "I feel" ou "I am feeling". The whole sentence is registered, and information such as the the age, gender, or country of origin of the writer are also registered in order to create statistics. The result of this experiment is a database of millions of feelings, constantly updated.

It allows us to question who feels what, when, and where. In which country people seem to be happier? What do 20 year-old women feel? How do people feel when the sun is shining?

The design of the website is very agradable and futuristic, and we take pleasure in navigating between the different feelings. The bright colors of the bubbles that represent the feelings differenciate from the dark of the background. It's like being lost in millions of stars...

"At its core, We Feel Fine is an artwork authored by everyone. It will grow and change as we grow and change, reflecting what's on our blogs, what's in our hearts, what's in our minds. We hope it makes the world seem a little smaller, and we hope it helps people see beauty in the everyday ups and downs of life."
